**Potatoes USA, the national marketing, research and promotion board for the potato industry, elected Steve Elfering of Boise as Board Chair at its annual meeting.

www.morningagclips.com reports Elfering is CEO of 1,4GROUP, a family-owned chemical distribution business that supports potato growers.

He’s spent more than three decades in the industry, from growing and marketing fresh potatoes to research to serving as a supplier.

Elfering has been involved with Potatoes USA for 14 years.

**In a letter to President Trump and European Commission

President Ursula von der Leyen, the National Farmers Union and Europe’s Coldiretti expressed concerns about the ongoing trade dispute between the U.S. and E.U.

NFU President Rob Larew says trade tensions will raise costs, disrupt supply chains, and restrict markets, causing farmers, consumers, and businesses to suffer.

The groups are asking for negotiations to begin as soon as possible.

**The USDA says corn and wheat export inspections were down week to week during the week ending March 20.

Corn inspections totaled 1.46 million metric tons, down from 1.69 million a week earlier but still ahead of the 1.26 million during the same week in 2024.

Wheat assessments were reported at 484,700 metric tons, down from just over 495,000 during the prior week but up from over 432,000 tons last year.
