The Agriculture Exhibition Center Corporation (AECC) has completed the purchase of 500 acres along I-65 at Exit 280, a key step for the Alabama Farm Center at Hallmark Farm, according to the Alabama Farmers Federation.

The Jefferson County Commission and Alabama Farmers Federation announced the real estate contract in September 2023, launching a due diligence phase that included AECC board appointments.

Federation President Jimmy Parnell called it a positive step. “The Federation is proud to have cast a vision for the Alabama Farm Center, and we appreciate Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation investing over $15 million into making it a reality,” he said.

The Alabama Senate confirmed AECC board members on Feb. 20. Parnell serves as chair, with Thomas Ellis as vice chair and Ralph Williams Jr. as secretary-treasurer.

Williams emphasized the significance of the closing. “Many have shared the dream of a premier agricultural education and event center,” he said. “The Alabama Farm Center at Hallmark Farm will be a regional destination benefiting Alabama’s economy, students, and workforce.”
