**California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state of emergency in response to a worsening bird flu outbreak that’s affected hundreds of dairy herds.

The action is intended to ensure government agencies have the resources and flexibility needed to support the state’s response to the outbreak.

Statewide, bird flu has spread to 641 dairies since late August, when the first detections in cattle emerged.

It has infected 34 Californians to date.

**Recent nationwide polling conducted by Morning Consult for the Renewable Fuels Association shows 69% of registered voters support increasing the availability of E15, gas with 15 percent ethanol.

Voters were also asked if they support legislation that would permanently allow E15 to be sold year-round and nationwide, and 81% said yes.

RFA President Geoff Cooper says this confirms American

voters want expanded access to E15, a lower-cost, cleaner-burning fuel.

**U.S. dairy exports are approaching record levels as consumer demand for dairy products in Mexico continues to outpace the country's production.

Mexico is the leading export market for U.S. dairy products, accounting for more than one-fourth of international sales.

All told, Mexico purchases 4.5% of U.S. milk production via dairy products and ingredients.

According to CoBank’s Knowledge Exchange, the upside potential for increasing U.S. dairy sales to Mexico remains strong.
