Stronger Together, CA Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Days Away

California Farm Bureau’s “Stronger Together” 2024 Annual Meeting is coming up December 7-10 in Monterey. I recently spoke with President Shannon Douglass who told me, no surprise, that Farm Bill would be part of the federal policy discussion…

“Statewide, we’ve got a couple of pretty hot topics and, of course, they vary all of the time. It’s not California if we’re not talking about water, so that’ll definitely be a subject to be covered.”

Labor. Land Use. They’re also on the list as well as insurance challenges with natural disasters adding complications…

“In California, certainly, we are not new to natural disasters. They tend to be fires is probably what gets the most attention in our state. And the cost of rebuilding have gotten so high that our insurance challenges and, not only the cost of those but also the availability of insurance, continues to be a real challenge for our members.”
