From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. Renewable propane is a product that’s beginning to catch on and could be found in greater use as the search for cleaner fuels and energy sources continues.

But, Mike Newland, Director of Ag Business Development at the Propane Education and Research Council, says there are challenges getting folks to buy in …

NEWLAND … “The news would lead you to believe that we’re evil people. The cool thing is, I think the facts are on our side. And what I mean by that is this rush to electrify as much of the world as we can, or as much of the U.S. as we can, believe it or not, the electric plug in the wall doesn’t produce any energy.”

Newland says it varies a lot, but they study the grid closely in every state …

NEWLAND … “In 45-plus states of the country our fuel is cleaner than the electric grid. And I know that’s a big number, you know, power moves in and out of states, across state lines. It’s a complex thing to measure, but we feel very good about our numbers.”

NEWLAND … “You know, it’s a debate that we’d love to have on the facts and on the science. We feel very good about our fuel. It’s an incredibly clean fuel. It’s a very safe fuel for a long time into the future here.”
