Dairy Family Donates $100K to Operation Outdoor Freedom
In a time when many are picking up the pieces after Hurricane Helene, there’s some heartwarming news from Florida to lift our spirits. Last week, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson announced a historic donation to Operation Outdoor Freedom—a program providing recreational and healing opportunities for wounded veterans across the state. At a special ceremony in Tampa, Dale McClellan and his family generously donated $100,000 to the program, marking the largest contribution in its history. McClellan, the owner of M&B Dairy in Citrus County, has deep agricultural roots and a long-standing commitment to supporting both the agricultural and veteran communities.
Commissioner Simpson expressed his gratitude, saying, “Florida’s veterans have sacrificed so much for our freedoms, and this contribution will make a real difference in their lives.”
Operation Outdoor Freedom, which is supported by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and led by the Florida Forest Service, offers wounded veterans no-cost access to outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and camping at facilities designed just for them.
While challenges remain in the wake of the hurricane, this donation is a reminder that even in tough times, we can still make a meaningful impact.
