The livestock industry has been actively developing strategies to mitigate risks in the event of a disease outbreak. Executive Director of the American Sheep Industry Association, Peter Orwick, says they have taken proactive measures by collaborating with the National Cattlemen's Beef Association to create a video series that outlines a comprehensive plan in the event of a disease outbreak.

“As we completed, particularly with our cattle partners on from the traditional beef and cattle operations, we then turn to the public lands operations, and that's been a real focus for the past year and a half now, of working with sheep and cattle ranchers as well as our federal land management partners on how do we do the same operations when federal lands are involved? Orwig says the videos provide visual guidance in the event of an animal disease outbreak, some say not if a foreign animal disease hits our shores, but when, and so that's really, I think what folks are appreciative of is the actual chance to visualize it and have interviews and discussions of what we will have to do you know our livestock transportation, trucks and link facilities.”
