**The Joint Poultry Industry Safety & Health Council recognized 244 chicken and turkey facilities with safety awards at the National Safety Conference for Poultry in Destin, Florida.

www.moringagclips.com reports, they were honored in recognition of their outstanding implementation of innovative and effective employee safety and health programs.

60 facilities received the highest level of recognition, Award of Distinction.

91 received the Award of Honor, and 93 the Award of Merit.

**USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service plans to monitor H5N1 influenza in dairy cows at slaughter starting next month.

FSIS will leverage its existing National Residue Program and conduct bird flu sampling in the muscle samples of dairy cow carcasses already collected.

Carcasses sampled under the program are held pending testing results.

In the event of a positive test, USDA will work with industry to ensure the carcass does not enter the food supply.

**The nation’s average gas price declined for the third straight week, falling 4.2 cents compared to a week ago to $3.37 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

The national average is down 11.4 cents from a month ago and is 47.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The national average diesel price fell 2.6 cents last week and is now $3.69 per gallon, the lowest level in 940 days.
