Round of Methane Reduction Grants Opens
With California Ag Today, I am Haylie Shipp. This is the Ag Information Network.Have aspirations of reducing methane emissions on your dairy or livestock operation? Listen up! The California Department of Food and Agriculture is now open for grant applications that’ll help in the installation of equipment and implementation of practices that do just that. It’s not the first time. Since 2015, CDFA’s dairy and livestock methane programs have funded 308 projects, aiming to cut over 25.9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MMTCO2e), comparable to removing 6.2 million gasoline-powered cars from the road.
CDFA Secretary Karen Ross emphasized the success of these initiatives in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and expressed enthusiasm for future projects.
The Department is offering grants through the Alternative Manure Management Program (AMMP) and the Dairy Digester Research and Development Program (DDRDP), with approximately $17.4 million and $8 million available, respectively. Additionally, the Dairy Plus Program is also accepting applications. This program supports advanced manure management practices and has $58 million available.
The application deadline for all programs is Friday, October 18, 2024, by 5:00 PM PT. Get all the details at https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/egov/press_releases/Press_Release.asp?PRnum=24-075
