Public Forum on Dam Removal Pt 2
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. A public forum is set for tomorrow, Wednesday at Collaboration Hall on the WSU Tri-Cities campus from 5:30 to 7:00 to get the public’s take on breaching the Lower Snake River dams.”U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says we need your help …
NEWHOUSE … “Members of the state legislature can bring that information that they can garner back to Olympia and certainly county commissioners to county courthouses. We want to ask everybody that’s in a position of decision making to be as well versed on this subject as they possibly can and to hear from members of the public as to the impacts that potential breaching will have.”
And that, Newhouse says comes from you …
NEWHOUSE … “That’s why it’s important for people to come out, let us know what they’re thinking on this issue, and we will absolutely take their voices and amplify them in the areas that are important.”
So, Newhouse says just show up …
NEWHOUSE … “It’s open to the public so that it should be, you know, at that time of day, hopefully after a lot of people coming off of work will be able to show up and spend a few minutes with us. And like I said, we’re not going to be lecturing or giving speeches. We’ll be mainly listening to members of the public.”
Bottom line, Newhouse says, Congress alone has the authority to breach the dams, and he’ll keep fighting these ill-conceived efforts.
