USDA Dairy Assistance and Beef Export Values Highest in a Year
From the Ag Information Network, this is your Agribusiness Update.**The USDA is accepting applications for financial assistance to dairy producers who incur losses due to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.
The funds, provided through the Emergency Assistance for
Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-raised Fish Program, would assist in covering a portion of financial losses from reduced milk production when cattle are removed from commercial dairy herds after a positive bird flu test.
Twelve states have reported dairy cattle infections.
**U.S. beef export value topped $900 million in May, the highest since June of last year.
According to U.S. Meat Export Federation data, U.S. beef exports totaled over 110,000 metric tons, down 5% from a year ago but the second most in 2024.
Beef export VALUE reached $902.4 million in May, 3% higher than last year and the highest in 11 months.
Exports trended higher year-over-year to Japan, Mexico, Asia, the Middle East, Caribbean, and Central America.
