Tyson Sells GA Poultry Complex, Alabama Field Days
With your Southeast Regional Ag News, I am Haylie Shipp. This is the Ag Information Network.Tyson Foods, Inc. has entered into an agreement to sell its Vienna, Georgia poultry complex to House of Raeford Farms, the company announced last week.
According to a statement from Tyson, the decision to sell is part of its continued efforts to optimize its plant network. House of Raeford Farms intends to continue poultry processing at the complex utilizing the existing workforce and grower network.
From ThePoultrySite.com, “The company (Tyson) has been grappling over the last few quarters with price-conscious customers cutting back on meat purchases and has made efforts to return to profitability by shuttering chicken, beef and pork plants, as well as laying off corporate employees.”
Meanwhile, there are a series of educational field days coming up from Alabama Extension starting with a Wiregrass Weed Tour today in Headland. The field day will get underway at 4 o’clock.
