4th of July Food Prices Higher and Colorado Dairy Worker Gets Bird Flu

According to the 2024 American Farm Bureau annual market basket survey, the Independence Day cookout cost $71.22 for 10 guests this year, up 5% from last year and almost 30% from just five years ago.
It’s the highest since Farm Bureau began the survey in 2013.
**Public health officials in Colorado announced that a dairy farm employee tested positive for avian flu last week.
Farm Policy News says the man reported mild symptoms from the infection, including pink eye after being exposed to infected cattle.
He’s since recovered after antiviral treatment.
The Colorado man became the fourth reported case of human infection.
The other three also worked on dairy farms and successfully recovered.
