Indigo Ag, originally a biological product company has expanded into sustainable and carbon markets. Dan Mongeau, Vice President of Sustainable Acres for Indigo. AG, says the growers who have or are making farming practice changes that create stored carbon in the soil, can get paid by companies who are looking for additional carbon offset credits.

“What really drew me and attracted me to Indigo was the focus of using a lot of grower data. Growers are already doing things that qualify for certain credits, whether it's carbon or whether it has to do with other sustainability assets, and where I really cut my teeth was looking at, how do we take this data, how do we transform it into additional income for the farm.”

Now in their fourth year of the carbon credit program, Manjeau says they have a new partnership with Microsoft.

“Microsoft purchased 40,000 carbon credits, verified and issued in accordance with the requirements of the climate action reserves soil enrichment protocol. It's indicative of a maturing market that is diverse and wide range, where buyers are looking to invest in high-quality ag based carbon credit. I think it's a significant win for science based in high integrity agricultural soil carbon credits.”
