The farm machinery sector is one of the most competitive sectors of agriculture. So how do these large companies differentiate themselves to farmers? Marc Kermisch says CNH Industrial differentiates themselves by prioritizing ease of use and interoperability of systems.

Kermisch… “If they wanna bring an implement that's a non-CNH implement, if they have a mixed fleet, if they have a particular, ag tech that they want to experiment with, you know, we're building our software and in many cases have already built our software that has an open architecture. So if there's an API that's available with a startup with another Ag Tech provider, we can integrate that directly into our ecosystem. If they have a non-CNH implement, which is pretty prevalent in a lot of our customer base, they can still control and implement through our displays, through basic can communications.”

CNH also has a different take on data, Kermisch says.

Kermisch… “The data is owned by the farmer or the construction operator. It's not owned by CNH. We respect that. We ask for permission where we want to use that data. We will not monetize that data. And if we ever do monetize in the future, it would be in conjunction with permission by the farmer or the construction operator, and we would want them to participate in that monetization in some way, shape, or form.”

Kermisch serves as the Global Chief Digital & Information Officer at CNH Industrial.
