USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service wants to remind you that exports are important to those holiday treats you may be enjoying. Whether you bake in North America or the North Pole, those holiday cookies, cakes, and candies are sure to be extra sweet and delicious, thanks to the high quality of U.S. food ingredients that get exported around the world. For example, the U.S. exports almost $269 million worth of flour, and North Dakota is the top producing state. America sends out $240 million worth of butter overseas, and California produces the most U.S. butter. The U.S. exports $719 million worth of eggs and egg products, with Iowa the top producing state. America exports $196 million worth of sugar, and Florida produces the most sugar in the U.S. If you’re a ginger fan, the U.S. exports $3 million worth of ginger spice, and Hawaii produces the most ginger spice in the U.S.
