Snake River Dams Debate Pt 1

From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse is slamming the early release of the final package of actions and commitments in the Columbia River System Operations mediation.

The Sunnyside Republican says this effort is a slap in the face and likely goes beyond JUST the Snake River dams …

NEWHOUSE … “This absolutely can be very impactful to the future of the Lower Snake River Dams, in fact, to the entire operation of the Columbia River and Snake River operations.”

Newhouse says it’s a strategy worth preparing for …

NEWHOUSE … “That’s always been my concern and the warning I’ve made several times to people. It’s been no secret, some of the parties that are pushing for breaching the four lower dams of the Snake River, are also saying that they want a completely free-running river system.”

And, Newhouse says it’s not difficult to figure out what that could mean …

NEWHOUSE … “That fairly means to me all the dams are in jeopardy and so we’ve got to be very careful how this process progresses. They’re not going to stop at four Snake River dams. I think they want them all.”

Newhouse says this confirms what we’ve all known for years.

The Biden Administration is catering to the wishes of extreme environmental activists that do not understand the importance of the dams to our region.
