The pace of innovation in technology continues to accelerate. So if you’ve tried a technology in the past on your farm that hasn’t worked, it doesn’t necessarily mean it wouldn’t work today. CropX chief revenue officer John Gates says this is definitely something to keep in mind when it comes to precision irrigation.

Gates… “When it comes to irrigation specifically, I think we now have over a decade of experience collectively between on-farm usage and the technology providers, university extension agencies. We know how to do this right with getting the right set of measurements, taking that data, and turning it into something that is practical and helpful. So, costs have come down. I think the level of effort on getting going has come down and, you know, just this past year I've heard a lot of cases of getting on the farm with folks that have used soil sensors or other devices, but the previous generation of technology from 10, 20 years ago, and not realizing how far it's come. And seeing what a big difference it is these days.”
