Farmers don't ask to be thanked, but that is exactly what a group in southeast Idaho felt needed to happen.Thank A Farmer was an event organized to give people a chance to show their appreciation to their neighbors and friends who produce our food and fiber. Amy Gittins of Franklin County. This is a first time event. Speaker2: We just wanted to let the farmers know that we appreciate what they do. It's been a rough year with feed prices and different situations between the weather condition and fuel prices. And so we just wanted to make sure that the producers knew that they were remembered and that what they do is important and that we do appreciate it. Brittney Smith, They can send an individual note for a farmer or they can just thank farmers in general. So if they have a farmer in mind, they can personalize it. There's chocolate milk, there's coloring pages. Lance Zollinger The food is being. Offered by our local grocery store here. Stokes We have Valley Implement Stokes equipment. Both brought some of their equipment here as we talk to them. They wanted to help support the idea and the concept. Local dairymen, our elementary schools in the area have them drawing and coloring these pictures for their little way of showing gratitude toward the farmers. So we have. Speaker2: Different posters that have been up around different businesses in the community so they can scan that cart and send a message of thank you. Speaker5: It's an industry that has a lot of risk and sometimes the reward doesn't really match the risk. And yet farmers wake up, get the job done.
