Largent at Hort Show Pt 2
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Seahawk great Steve Largent will deliver the keynote address on Teamwork at next week’s WSTFA Annual Meeting and Hort Expo. The Hall of Fame receiver says his teamwork message is about the tree fruit industry always working together, but especially in these challenging times …
LARGENT … “So, I think there’s a number of issues that you can find common ground on and lock arms with people that you’re great competitors with. So, yeah, that’s an easy one.”
And what does Largent hope people will take away from his address? …
LARGENT … “Yeah, I think what I would hope that they take away from it is some positive thoughts about working together, about locking arms and moving together in lock-step with one another on those issues that are not competitive issues, that are issues that everybody has to subscribe to, that we’d have some fun doing it.”
Supporting each other, Largent says is never a bad thing …
LARGENT … “Absolutely! I mean, I think there are many areas that there can be total agreement across the board among these folks as to, you know, what they’d like to see and what they don’t want to see effecting or impacting their industry and their work. And, those are the things that you talk about that you can find common ground on, very easily.”
These days, Largent says, after a stint in Congress and working for the wireless industry, he is now, for the most part, retired, living on his small ranch near his home town of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
