Separating water from manure has traditionally been a difficult and very energy intensive process. Livestock Water Recycling CEO Karen Schuett says they’ve developed a system that helps make this process accessible for livestock producers.

Schuett… “Traditionally the solid liquid separators that people have used on farms have been very energy intensive. And where our process was developed to be less energy intensive, extract a higher amount of particle from the manure. And then also to achieve this in a way that is very labor associated with it. So fully automated.”

Schuett added in some cases their customers have been able to monetize carbon credits with environmental savings.

Schuett… “We've seen farms in Washington state where the environment was very, you know, legal and difficult, be proactive, put in systems of ours. And then now they are selling carbon credits. So they can, you know, sell carbon credits into the voluntary market and make money off of that. So, you know, not only were they being proactive against any potential regulatory environment, but they were also, you know, looking at opportunity to make money there.”

This is on top of the water savings the system provides.
