06/01/06 All-star chef

All-Star Chef We have a player on our team that should make the all-stars. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back in one minute to tell you a little about him. If the cattle and beef producers had an all-star team, chef Richard Chamberlain would get my vote. Chef Chamberlain is founder, owner, and executive chef of two restaurantsone a signature steakhouse in Dallas, Texas and is also the culinary director of steakhouses in Nevada and Colorado. Anyone who markets beef has a spot on my team, but the extra effort Mr. Chamberlain puts in as a spokesman for beef and his ability to promote and sometimes defend beef males him a sure-fire, positive pick as an all-star. He has used much of his free time promoting beef. In 2001 he went to South Korea on an invitation from the U.S. Meat Export Federation to conduct education seminars there. He was also enlisted by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and American Dietetic Association to co-author a beef cookbook with dietitian Betsy Hornick that is titled "the healthy beef cookbook." I think his greatest talent, as a team player is his ability to answer U.S. media questions about beef. When the media gets tough grilling him instead of beef, he just answers he is a steakhouse owner, chef, and father of two healthy, athletic children who benefit from eating moderate amounts of beef in their daily diets. That's the kind of player I want on my team and he's just as valuable as anyone on any sports team. I'm Jeff Keane. Beef May 2006
