Auction of Washington Wines 2022 Pt 1
With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. With springtime here and COVID restrictions loosening, the Auction of Washington Wines is thrilled to announce the lineup for its 35th Anniversary of charitable tastings and toasting events during its Wine Country Celebration in May.Executive Director Jamie Peha says it’s all about giving to support the amazing work of their beneficiaries …
PEHA … “Seattle Children’s Hospital has been our partner since the inception of the Auction, which is pretty amazing when you think about 35 years.”
But, Peha says there are others as well …
PEHA … “Maybe 15 or 20 years ago Washington State University became a partner, particularly because of the development of the Viticulture and Enology program that was eventually developed and the Wine Science Center that was built in Tri-Cities.”
Which helps, Peha says the entire industry …
PEHA … “With that, a portion of our funds go to Washington State University Viticulture and Enology Research because research is so important to the future of the Washington wine industry and that’s wine and grape research. World-class facility.”
And, Peha says their Industry Grant Partner …
PEHA … “We select an organization that is directly supporting the communities that are the foundation of the Washington wine industry, namely farming communities, vineyard workers, and this is our second year partnering with Vital Wines out of Walla Walla.”
