Irrigation Title Transfers

I’m Bob Larson. In a ceremony last week, the Bureau of Reclamation signed over the title of the Kennewick and Greater Wenatchee Irrigation Districts, moving control from federal to local.

U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse was there and says he couldn’t be more pleased for both …

NEWHOUSE … “The ceremony that I participated in Tuesday was really the culmination of a lot of time and effort put into the title transfer process resulting in Kennewick and Greater Wenatchee Irrigation Districts having title to the properties.”

Newhouse says it really is a big deal, because now the irrigation districts will be much better able to provide service to their customers …

NEWHOUSE … “They’ll be much quicker at responding to improvements and improving services to their customers. It really streamlines their ability to do the necessary work so that they can focus on customer service. And I think the people, over time, will see this as a huge improvement.”

Newhouse says it’s been a long time coming …

NEWHOUSE … “So, we’ve been working through this process and, like I said, it’s taken a lot of time and effort to get here, but very happy that these two irrigation districts are some of the very first to be able to take advantage of this title transfer process.”

Newhouse says this is exactly the kind of improvement we need to allow our irrigation districts to efficiently deliver water to our rural communities.
