UC Rice IPM Workgroup Upcoming Meeting

A new tool for rice growers is under development, and the creators want you to go try it out and let them know your thoughts at their grower meeting. The UC Rice IPM Workgroup is holding the meeting on February 16th to provide research updates and exhibit a new rice calculator. Whitney Brim-DeForest…

“Will provide growers with a decision-making tool about the economics of switching to a different crop out of rice.”

One of the presenters will be Sara Rosenberg, UC Davis Ph.D. student in Horticulture and Agronomy… a vital part of the research according to Brim-DeForest.

“She’s been doing some of the data collection regarding economics which we met with a few different groups of growers last summer and gathered some of the data directly from them. She’s been working on putting some of the data together with the calculator.”

The in-person meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 16th, at the UCCE Sutter-Yuba office, from 8:30 AM-12 PM. Registration will begin at 8:30. This local event is FREE.

“We would like as many growers, industry folks to attend as possible. We want to get as many variety of voices and experiences to give us some feedback on the calculator itself, its usefulness, and anything we can change.”

For those unable to make it in person, the tool itself will be posted on the soon-to-be-launched UC Rice IPM Workgroup website.
