Billions of dollars has flowed into agtech startups over the past decade, but it hasn’t really amounted to much changes to the food system. Ground Capital Partners CEO Stephen Hohenrieder sees a need for capital that is more committed to systemic change.

Hohenrieder… “A lot of investment capital is focused on more venture capital type startups that are providing technological point solutions to these systems-based problems. Which is important, but I also think that there's an opportunity and the role that I have chosen to play is investing in established companies that have some scale and proven programs, where we can then grow those programs to exponentially impact the outcomes that we're trying to achieve.”

Hohenrieder is putting his thesis to work at Grounded Capital Partners where he invests in established, mission-driven food companies.

Hohenrieder… “I believe that very diverse stakeholders are all driving our food system in the same direction, which is increasingly being redefined by a fragmentation. So at Grounded Capital Partners, we will be investing in established mission-driven food companies that have scale. Where we can use that company and support that management team to lead our strategy in that category, as a platform.”

Hohenrieder hopes to help support those companies to lead positive changes for the food system.
