The USDA's forecast for corn production was cut by 415 million bushels from its earlier forecast - and a lot more than analysts expected.

Lance Honig with USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service says the crop will be 14.75 billion bushels.

Honig; “ Lower than folks were expecting in fact falling just outside the range of those expectations, so this number does appear to be a bit of a surprise.”

The crop is still the second biggest recorded.

Estimates were also cut for wheat, rice, soybean, and cotton.
