Those involved in timber harvesting and hauling have been hit hard first with unfair trading practices, then the covid pandemic. But now there's a new assistance program That we believe will help alleviate some of the financial burden the logging industry has endured during the course of the pandemic. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announcing the start of a 200 million dollar program, the pandemic assistance for timber harvesters and haullers program, Which we will refer to as PATHH. Vilsack telling reporters that timber harvesting and hauling businesses who get most of their incomes from timber and whose incomes suffered at least a 10 percent loss in 2020 compared to 2019, will be able to start applying for permits.

For program, details go online to farmers.gov or USDA's got a call center Where interested loggers and truckers can speak directly with a USDA employee. Now that number is 877 508 8364.

all kinds of agricultural producers have had covid assistance programs and payments directed for them. Now there's a USDA program directed to those in the timber business, which also has taken a hit from the pandemic. There have been serious challenges for the industry as a result. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told a phone media conference there's 200 million dollars authorized for this new pandemic assistance for timber harvesters and haulers program. Payments will come in two rounds. The first payment will be two thousand dollars. And then we'll see where we are relative to the two hundred million. And then a second round of payments will be made. Following that with a limit, no one will receive more than one hundred twenty five thousand dollars. So that's the payment structure. Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin and Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree were on the call with Vilsack and said for an industry that's been struggling. This would be a good shot in the arm and we do believe this will be a shot in the arm and keep people going for a little while longer. Shot in the arm, sort of a retroactive covid vaccination.
