Agricultural Fairs Rescue Act Pt 1
I’m Bob Larson. As summer approaches, so does fair season, and a new bill will help preserve agricultural fairs across the country and offset the financial losses brought by the pandemic.Co-Sponsor, U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says the Agricultural Fairs Rescue Act will help keep alive a big part of so many lives around the country …
NEWHOUSE … “I’ve been involved with fairs pretty much my whole life, as an exhibitor when I was a kid in 4-H, and then in high school in FFA, and then later on I was able to serve on the Fair Board, of the Central Washington State Fair. I think for a lot of us in rural America fairs are a big part of what we look forward to every summer.”
These fairs, Newhouse says are a fantastic go-between for agriculture and the people who enjoy what we produce …
NEWHOUSE … “They’re a great way for the public to continue their educational process, as it relates to agriculture. It’s a great place for agriculture to display and showcase what we do. And, having that bridge between consumer and producer is really important.”
Fairs, Newhouse says, really took a big blow last year from the pandemic …
NEWHOUSE … “And, this is an effort to, as you referenced, you know, the pandemic has been really hard on a lot of parts of our culture and our everyday life and fairs are no exception. They’ve seen a tremendous inability to do things.”
Tune in tomorrow for more on the Agricultural Fairs Rescue Act.
