Over the years I have never missed an opportunity to celebrate, applaud and brag on Future Farmers of America. They are the greatest and most accomplished kids around. Well, apparently I’m not alone in my feelings.

A new experience for the annual National FFA convention. A virtual affair for 2020. Among those welcoming convention participants at the opening session, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. “We’ve become so productive. While this is brought new challenges in our abundance that need to be solved, I've got faith that we will solve them because I have faith in you. You are that next generation of leaders in the ag industry and in America.” He noted the enthusiasm of FFA members is evident during his visits, whether in person or virtually. “I see young people like you eager to begin careers in agriculture and proudly wearing those blue and gold jackets.” Also speaking to FFA convention goers, Education Secretary Betsy Devos. “Your involvement with FFA encourages you to develop your academic and technical skills and just as importantly, your character.” The national FFA virtual convention ran for three days.
