Judy Hirigoyen is Vice President of Global Marketing with the American Pistachio Growers based in Fresno. The APG wants to particularly keep those health aspects of pistachios in front of the consumer.

“We know that there've been some big behavioral shifts among consumers as a result of COVID-19. And we anticipate there will be more, but American Pistachio Growers is ready to pivot to meet consumers where they are and bring the scientific evidence to them about your product and help them to make some smart food choices,” Hirigoyen said.

Eating healthy is more important to consumers than ever, Hirigoyen said.

“People care about gut health, and they really want to support their immune system for obvious reasons,” noted Hirigoyen. “And we know that consumers are watching media more, online, in magazines, on television and looking for information that's relevant to them. We will meet consumers where they are, and we will be happy to do that,” she said,

Hirigoyen said APG will do everything they can to keep American Pistachio Growers product in front of consumers.

In more news in the pecan industry, September should start the kernel fill stage of the late varieties, which means this is a critical stage for managing everything, particularly water stress.
