Grizzly Reintroduction Plan Scrapped

Grizzly Bears and ranchers typically don't mix well in the same region.

That's why ranchers in the Northwest are celebrating a decision by the Interior Department to scrap plans to reintroduce grizzly bears to the North Cascades.

The NCBA's Kaitlynn Glover discusses just how big of a win this is for ranchers.

“The Trump Administration is committed to being a good neighbor, and the people who live and work in north central Washington have made their voices clear that they do not want grizzly bears.''

“Grizzly bears are not in danger of extinction, and Interior will continue to build on its conservation successes managing healthy grizzly bear populations across their existing range.''

Mitch Friedman of Conservation Northwest says the big bears are a critical part of the ecosystem and his group’s polling has found public support for their reintroduction.
