William Bourdeau is a CPA has an MBA and is Executive Vice President of Harris Farms in Southwest Fresno County. Harris Farms is a diversified operation, farming, almonds, pistachios and vegetable crops. Bourdeau said he's very concerned about the lack of water for valuable crop irrigation.

“I'm very terrified by our water supply and we need to make sure it becomes reliable. Right now it’s not reliable. A 15% allocation is crazy,” said Bourdeau. “Coming off of a very wet year last year. I mean, we should have captured much more water,” he said.

Bourdeau said that the political issue that's behind all this needs to be resolved.

“We need to work together the state of California and the federal government to come together and help solve our problems. The new biological opinion goes a long way to address some of the issues and tries to help improve the environment while allowing them to free up some water for beneficial use,” explained Bourdeau.

“I'm not optimistic about the situation we're in right now, but I do feel like the Federal government is working very hard to help us succeed,” noted Bourdeau.

“Now, is this a complicated subject? Yes, and I hope the governor will come to the table and do the right thing, and I think he might, I mean, he's given us indications that he is willing to work with the San Joaquin valley and our domestic food production capability. After all he did veto SB 1 which would have devastated California agriculture,” Bourdeau said.
