Agreement between parties

Lord knows there isn't much agreement between the two sides of the aisle in Washington. If democrats say black, republicans quickly respond with white. And it doesn't seem to matter whether logic prevails on an issue. There is a visceral negativity on both sides that ultimately, in my mind, prevents the country from moving forward. That said, there was strong bipartisan support for the United States, Mexico, Canada agreement. That means great things for trade, and, as National Potato Council president Kam Quarles suggests, it could be perceived as a first step towards more national unity. “You see that just over the past couple of months, you've got USMC A was approved overwhelmingly in both the House and the Senate and the House and the Senate are not agreeing on much of anything right now, but they were able to do it on this trade agreement. So that's really important. You've also had the Japan ratification. You had the China Phase 1 announcement. So, you know, a couple of years ago, there was a lot of negativity and a lot of volatility around the trade environment. Now, that's really turning the corner. And we think that positive momentum that you mentioned, that's something that we really need that wind at our back moving forward.”
