A photograph can tell a story of a day, or a season.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture is inviting amateur and professional photographers to share an image that tells the story of agriculture in Colorado.

Wendy White, marketing specialist for the Colorado Department of Agriculture says entries for the 22nd annual “Colorado…it’s AgriCultural” photography contest are being accepted until the end of the year.

White says photographers may showcase Colorado agriculture in a variety of creative ways.

White: “Any photos that include Colorado Agriculture that have been taken in the 2019 year. We have a variety of categories including crops, livestock, people, ag from above so that might be from a drone or high above so you can see the landscape as well as urban agriculture. So a wide varieties of both amateur and professional. We have an open professional category that professionals can enter. Really it showcases the spirit of Colorado agriculture. I just love to see the photos come in every year.

Judging will be based on theme, creativity and technical quality.

White: “We get a variety of judges from the agricultural industry, different ag organizations as well as professional photographers to focus on the technical aspects.”

The photograph judged as best depicting the spirit of Colorado agriculture will receive $150, and other category winners will receive prize packs. The rules can be found at the Department of Ag’s website.

All winning photographs will be displayed at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and will be posted online at www.coloradoagriculture.com.
