Grizzly Bear Meeting Pt 1
I'm Bob Larson. The date is October 7th. The place Okanogan County Fairgrounds. The time 5pm. That's for the Department of the Interior public meeting to get feedback on the introduction of grizzly bears to the North Cascades.U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse has been insisting on this meeting for some time ...
NEWHOUSE ... "This is a tremendously important meeting and I'm delighted the Department of Interior is seeing necessary to listen to my pleas, to have this opportunity so that they can collect public input on an issue so important."
Newhouse says it's the government's duty to hear from the people ...
NEWHOUSE ... "I think, no matter what it is, if the government is going to take action that's going to impact people such as an introduction of grizzly bears, they absolutely need to get the opinion of the people that this is going to effect the most."
Newhouse says he didn't want anything this important to just slide by ...
NEWHOUSE ... "My concern was that they were just going to move forward without properly allowing people to voice their opinions. So, this meeting is our opportunity, the people in Okanogan, North Central Washington to come forward and make your opinions known. Let the agency understand where you fall, whether you're for or against."
Newhouse is encouraging as many people as possible to show up and fill the Okanogan County Fairgrounds Agriplex to let them know how you feel about grizzly bears in your backyard.
Listen tomorrow for more.
The meeting will take place on October 7th at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds Agriplex, 175 Rodeo Trail Road, Okanogan, Washington. Doors will open at 5:00 PM PST.
