Late Fiscal Filer Deadline Pt 1
I'm Bob Larson. A reminder from the USDA that the closing date for Whole-Farm Revenue and Fruit Producers is fast approaching. The USDA's Risk Management Agency is out to let producers in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington know you have just a few weeks remaining to obtain your WFRP policy if you're a Late Fiscal Filer?
MENASCO ... "So, a Late Fiscal Filer is an insured that chooses to file their taxes on a fiscal year that begins September 1st or later."
Risk Management Specialist Lacey Menasco says that's for the 2019 crop year ...
MENASCO ... "The Whole Farm Revenue Protection approach to insurance offers a unique opportunity to insure all the revenue for maybe specialty crops or crops with a special price that may not be insurable under an individual crop policy."
Manasco says there are different options Northwest fruit producers can consider ...
MENASCO ... "So, we do have many fruit producers out here in the Northwest that participate in the Whole-Farm Revenue Protection Policy. Many of those also have individual crop policies for their operations and the deadline is coming up if they want to purchase an individual crop policy for apples, blueberries, grapes, stone fruit, and many of the other crops that we do produce out here in the Northwest."
Menasco says the deadline is November 20th including policy changes and it's not JUST for fruit growers ...
MENASCO ... "Actually, anyone can qualify for Whole-Farm Revenue Protection, or any producer. It isn't just for fruit production. They can included livestock or row crops or any kind of agricultural commodity."
