Low milk prices are making it almost impossible for some dairy farmers to stay in business.

Dale and Karen Cihlar (SEE-lahr) were recently turned down for an operating loan because many ag bankers aren't lending money to dairy farmers due to low milk prices.

Down to their last option, they turned to a GoFundMe campaign to help save their dairy operation.

The next day after launching the campaign, they woke up to some very surprising results

The goal was $35,000. The most recent data shows that more than 1,800 people have given over $90,000 dollars over the five-month campaign.

A lot of the donors were former dairy farmers, raised on dairy farms, or had grandparents that were dairy farmers. 98 percent of the comments on the campaign were extremely positive. Dale says the result of the fundraising campaign means this dairy family gets to stay on their farm.

Both Dale and Karen said the campaign result was far more than they imagined. They get to keep the dairy operation that's been in their family since 1873.
