WAVE Seminar Reminder
With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. A reminder from the Washington State Wine Commission and WSU: Time is running out to register for this year's WAVE seminar next week in Prosser.Washington Wine Research Program Manager Melissa Hansen says two of the shorter WAVE-x seminars were held recently in Richland and Lake Chelan ...
HANSEN ... "And, then the full-day WAVE, kind of the full-meal, is April 4th and that will follow our traditional format. This will be our third full WAVE and it's at the Clore Center."
Hansen says the Prosser event will be packed with information ...
HANSEN ... "And, we feature six to seven research topics and they really go in depth. They have about 30 to 45 minutes to really get down to the nitty-gritty. And, it's a blend of both viticulture and enology so there's topics that both winemakers and wine growers are interested in."
Hansen says space for next week's WAVE seminar is limited ...
HANSEN ... "Registration is needed in advance because we, number one, have to know head counts, but make sure we can fit everybody in the room. So, I would not delay because they do fill up."
She says The WAVE seminar is a great opportunity for industry folks to network and meet the researchers who can answer growing and winemaking questions ...
HANSEN ... "So, these have really become the signature event for research and it's just a great partnership with the Wine Commission and Washington State University."
Topics range from vineyard subjects like sprayer technologies, irrigation, and managing and identifying a certain virus, to Winery subjects like managing spoilage,
astringency in red wines and smoke taint.
