Labor Conference Pt 2
I'm Bob Larson. An all-day Labor Conference will be held January 18th in Wenatchee dedicated to the labor and employment needs of farmers and seasonal employers. WAFLA executive director Dan Fazio says the meeting will touch on many topics ...DAN FAZIO ... "In our Labor Conference that also doubles as WAFLA's Annual Meeting, we talk more about wages, and breakout sessions about motivating workers and team building and conducting human resources investigations and understanding lead laws and things like that."
Fazio says the day will be broken into several sessions, large and small ...
DAN FAZIO ... "We have three different breakout sessions and time slots, and each one of them people get to pick from four different topics. And, then we have the big general session topics which are talking again about the changes that we're seeing in piece-rate versus hourly-rate in Washington state. You know, there are some people that would like to abolish piece-rate altogether and there's some lawsuits, one before the Supreme Court currently about jus that. So, it's the same group of people, but we're talking about different things."
The Labor Conference will hit on several important topics like the new Paid Sick Leave, Department of Labor and HR investigations, workplace harassment, paid and unpaid leave laws, and the latest on piece rate versus hourly wages.
