11/18/05 New favorite - Greg Norman Estates

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as many of you know, my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. I simply do not bother drinking wine that is not interesting. A while ago, I had a wine that was from the winery of the famous Australian golfer Greg Norman. Yes, you heard it right the golfer Greg Norman has a passion for wine. So much so that he has created partnerships in order to produce wines with his name on it. Not only in Australia but also in California. Well I had the pleasure of tasting and drinking an Aussie Shiraz. It was the 2002 Limestone Coast Shiraz made by Australian winemaker, and a friend of Greg's, Andrew Hales. Australia's limestone Coast was once an ancient seabed and its climate is said to be very much like the Bordeaux region of France. The wine tasted as though the grapes were very ripe and it put forth a great amount of generous fruit. The generous fruit flavors were accompanied by interesting spices, and a touch of vanilla, from a blending of French and American oak aged wines. The wine was a real treat and you can probably find them just by asking your local wine merchant. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
