This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for Dec. 19th. The cattle market chugging right along as demand continues onward and upward over the week. Here's Greg Sanders with the USDA National Cattle weekly update.

Sanders "National box beef report for Thursday Dec 15th, 2016. Box beef cut-out values were sharply higher on light to moderate demand on light offerings. Select and choice chuck, round and loin cuts were firm to higher. Select rib cuts were firm, while choice was weak. Beef trimmings, mostly moderately higher on moderate higher on moderate demand in light to moderate offerings. The estimated composite value of a choice yield grade 1-3, 600-900 lb carcass was up $2.58 at 193.46."

As we take a look at those Chicago markets, May Wheat prices closed the week up 1, at 435 ¾. While Chicago May Corn prices were dn ¼, to close friday at 371 ¼. Prices in Portland for Soft White Winter Wheat of ordinary protein for April were up ½, ranging from 4-56 ¾ to 4-61 ¾. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 % protein, future prices for March were up 2 ¼, ranging from -06 ½ to 5-11 ½. DNS Wheat with 14 % protein, prices for March were up 6 ½, ranging from 6-50 ¾ to 6-65 ¾. April Live Cattle closed the day up $1.25, at 113.60. April Feeder cattle were up $1.37 ½, at 125.67 ½. Feb. class III milk was dn 13 cents at 17-12.
