With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. The Holidays are the 'Giving Season' and Stemilt Growers are delivering the goods!

Seattle's KING 5 TV was holding its annual Home Team Harvest event last weekend and the Wenatchee-based tree fruit specialist pulled up with a truck load of Galas ...

BRIANNA SHALES ... "KING 5's Home Team Harvest event was held last Saturday, December 3rd. And as part of that, Stemilt delivered a truck load of apples to go to Northwest Harvest and help feed the hungry this holiday season. So, there were about 48,000 pounds of apples that were donated by Stemilt, and then Oak Harbor Lines was the trucking company that donated its fare to deliver the apples."

Stemilt's Brianna Shales says it feels great to be able to help out, especially during this time of year ...

BRIANNA SHALES ... "Definitely! I mean, any way we can contribute to someone's holiday season and make it brighter and fill their belly with wholesome food, that's what we're all about. We're glad that we have that partnership with Rotary First Harvest so we can do it throughout the year, but I think the Holidays are definitely a time where everyone is focused on that a little bit more and so it's a great way for us to rally around the same cause."

Stemilt has participated in the KING 5 event for many years and, as she noted, also works with Rotary First Harvest that contributes more than 2-million pounds annually to more than 370 food banks and hunger programs in Washington state.
