Weekly Cattle Report
This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for Friday, Sept 12th. Cattle continue to slip further into the red over the week. Let's check in with Greg Sanders to hear more about the National Slaughter Cattle Review with the USDA.
Sanders "National Slaughter Cattle review for Thursday, Sept. 8th 2016. On Thursday trade was moderate on light to moderate demand in all feeding regions. Compared to last week in the Southern plains, live sales sold from $5 lower at $1.05. In Nebraska, compared to Wednesday live sales sold a dollar lower at $1.05, with dress sales $4 lower at $1.66. In Colorado compared to last week, live sales sold from $4- $5 lower from $1.05 to $1.06, with a few dress $8 lower at $1.67."
Chicago Dec. Wheat prices closed Friday dn 2 ½, at 402 ½. Dec. corn ended the week up 2 ½, at 340 even. Portland prices for soft white wheat of Ordinary Protein for Dec. ended the day unch, ranging from 4-65 to 4-91. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for Dec. were up ½, ranging from 5-03 ½ to 5-13 ½. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for Dec. was up 2, ranging from 5-89 to 6-04. Dec. Live Cattle were up $2.80, to finish the day at 105.15 Nov. Feeder cattle were up $2.40, to close the day at 128.10. Nov. class III milk was Dn 10 cents at 16-59.
