In the case of the spotted owl and environmentalists, the theory of evolution appears to be just that, a theory. When it comes to the spotted owl, environmentalists are bent on removing the fit species so the unfit can survive. Now the latest villain in the spotted owl saga, is of all things, another owl called the barred Owl, a larger, stronger avian who is displacing it's weaker cousin. Despite that little Darwin fish with legs they sport on their bumpers, in the end it might seem that environmentalists are the ones that want to play God and in the case of the barred Owl ( and the logger) they determined that the demise of the enemy is the "logical" solution. In typical "eco" rhetoric, 20 barred owls are to be shot by the California Academy of Science in they are calling a "removal" experiment. If successful more will be eliminated by "environmentally" sensitive shotguns. If the spotted owl remains the poster child for environmentalists, maybe the barred owl should become a mascot for those disgusted by their agenda Source: KATU News.com June 15, 2005 Feds porpose killing barred owls invading spotted owl territory.
