This is your Northwest report for Tuesday, August 16, I'm David Sparks and there is a labor crisis confronting us. The Department of Labor delays in processing visas for workers have led to a chronic worker shortage across the nation. The American Farm Bureau got involved saying they fear that this year's crops will rot in the nation's fields. Farm Bureau blogger Jake Putnam weighed in with his informed opinion.

Three environmental groups and two commercial fishing advocacy groups say they will file a lawsuit against the federal government over heat-related fish kills in the Columbia River Basin in the Pacific Northwest. The groups say 250,000 adult sockeye salmon died in 2015 due to high temperatures in the Columbia River and lower Snake River. The groups say the federal agency has failed to create a plan to control water temperatures.
