This is your Northwest report for Monday, August 15, I'm David Sparks and Donald Trump was firing up a crowd in Erie, Pennsylvania, a key battleground state on Friday and, while both sides continue to assail one another, at least Mr. Trump presented actual issues. One of his strong suits is talking about jobs and the economy. "Because Hillary Clinton made the statement not so long ago, a couple of months ago, she said we are going to put the mines and the miners out of business. We are not going to let that happen." During the speech there was heavy support since that is serious mining country but of course, the controversial Republican candidate was also booed.

Elsewhere according to myNorthwest.com, State helicopter gunners have shot and killed two adult female wolves in northeastern Washington and efforts to remove wolves are continuing.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife said in an email Thursday that staff killed the predators, including this year's breeding female, on Aug. 5. Operations continue but the agency is not releasing details as a safety precaution.

Finally, and according to Wired2Fish, the Washington State largemouth bass record has-been broken by Bill Evans who has been fishing for bass for 40 years. After a lengthy fight around dock pilings with 8-pound line, Evans put his hands on a largemouth bass that he later had weighed at 12.53 pounds, a weight that would eclipse the former record of 11.58 pounds set back in 1977.
