This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for Monday, Aug 9th. Feeder cattle and hogs trading stronger, but producers eagerly await the USDA report scheduled for Friday to see what happens with the market. Here's Jack Scoville to share the details from the floor of the CME in Chicago, with the USDA.

Scoville "Livestock markets are generally firmer over the course of the day Monday. Both hogs and cattle trading firmer, cattle reacting to news that a $1.20 per lbs was paid in cash markets on Friday and that there was a very good volume of trade that was transacted." Chicago Sept. Wheat prices closed the day up 1, at 416. Sept. corn ended yesterday up 1, at 325 ¾. Portland prices for soft white wheat of Ordinary Protein for Aug. ended the day unch, ranging from 4-75 to 4-90. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for Aug. were dn 2, ranging from 4-89 ¾ to 5-19 ¾. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for Aug. was up 4 ½, ranging from 5-84 ½ to 6-09 ½. Aug Live Cattle were Dn 75 cents, to finish the day at 116.97 ½. Aug Feeder cattle were Dn 52 ½ cents, to close the day at 149.00. Aug. class III milk was up 4 cents, at 17-14.
