We recently reported on the huge, positive economic impact that agriculture, fishing and forestry have on the Northwest. Well now, Oregon is about to join other states such as Idaho, that have created a leadership development program for those tied to agriculture, fishing, and forestry. It all hinges on support from the natural resource industries: It's called REAL Oregon– standing for Resource Education and Agricultural Leadership. If all goes according to plan, the first crop of leaders will be produced next year, according to Kathryn Walker of the Oregon Department of Agriculture:

WALKER: "There are a lot of states who have leadership programs. Oregon is one of the few that does not. Those states that do have programs, they've had a lot of success in terms of the individuals who have gone through the process and have grown from the process, and then being able to contribute to the natural resource community or to their state."

And from the news files from the rich and famous, TMZ reports Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and singer Ciara tied the knot yesterday. The two were wed at Peckforton Castle in Liverpool, England. The couple reportedly hosted a rehearsal dinner Tuesday night and PEOPLE reports the dinner was held at Liverpool's Titanic Hotel.

And MyNorthwest.com If the summer of 2015 was known for heat, drought and wildfires, the summer of 2016 will be known for – normalcy because the Northwest is experiencing an in-between period – El Nino has ended, and La Nina is right around the corner. For the time being, Seattle can expect a colder and wetter July. After that, things should be "typical" according to Jay Albrecht, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Seattle.
