Our state is made up with a dynamic group of young farmers, our own field reporter, Kylie Grey runs a large farm in the basin and sells potatoes under her Grey Girl label. What type of potato's do you grow? GREY: Russets and Red potatoes How is the crop coming? GREY: Things are going good for us so far, we are getting ready to move into harvest we are hoping to start harvest here in the next probable ten days and we will have a lot that goes to grocery store and a lot that goes into storage. What advice would you to other young people starting out in ag or joining the family farm? Grey: I believe in the grass roots organizations and if your not involved, if you voice isn't on the forefront of what is going on in our industry, than you are going to someday be on the back burning. Small business is under attack in our country and if you aren't going to be out there fighting for us then your business 5 years from now might not be running. Farm Bureau is a great organization to get involved with, they lobby for the people and your voice will definitely be heard. Washington Women in Ag, it's a great network of women if you are a female get a hold of somebody, it's great to be able to mingle with people who are in the same industry with you and facing the same challenges. If you are a young farmer get involved with young farmers. When you are starting up a new business it's great to be just able to know people that are doing the same types of things as you. Kylie thanks for being such a great aGvocate and remember to check out your supermarket for that Graygirl farms label
